Fall Weddings - A Good Choice

The fall season is a perfect time for weddings.  The fall represents a new beginning and nature sets the scenery by painting the landscape in a warm palette of crisp colors.  Fall weddings can be very romantic with the right planning.

Location:

As the weather begins to cool off, the fall is a great time for outdoor weddings.  Some options for fall weddings include a farm or barn, an apple orchard, a vineyard, a park or botanical gardens.  If you prefer the inside, you can choose from a country inn, cute bread and breakfast, or any venue that is accented with lots of wood and perhaps includes a fireplace.

Attire:

The bridal gown can be white, off-white, or cream colored.  A rich cream color would be the most appropriate for a fall wedding accented with the color of the bridesmaids’ dresses. .  It is a good idea to include some kind of wrap just in case it can become too chilly.  The bridesmaid dresses can be made from an array of colors found in nature.  These could be orange, gold, rust, red, yellow, deep chocolate brown, eggplant purple, and burgundy.  A modern combination is deep chocolate brown and light blue.

Flowers:

The fall season is filled with beautiful flowers to choose from to create your wedding flower bouquet as well as your centerpieces and decorations.  Here you can you let your imagination go wild in mixing and matching from a wonderful selection of styles and color.  Some favorite flowers of the fall season include: hydrangeas, daisies, chrysanthemums, sunflowers, roses, lilies, and orchids.  These can be combined with baby’s breath, fall leaves, and wheat.

Decorations:

Flowers should be abundant in a fall wedding theme.  Centerpieces can also include pumpkins, gourds, corn, acorns, apples, and pears.  You can use beautiful baskets and carved pumpkins for the containers.  Bales of hay and corn set the scene for an outdoor fall wedding.  A carpet of fall leaves also sets the tone.  Wheelbarrows and barrels also add to the scenery.  Make beautiful bows in your wedding color and embellish them with wheat and cinnamon sticks.  Fill the flower girl’s basket with rich autumn leaves instead of rose petals.

Food:

The menu can include dishes from a Thanksgiving feast such as turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing and an assortment of salads.  Apple cider with cinnamon sticks can be served as a drink.  Dessert can include apples, pears, and pumpkin pie.

Fall Wedding Favors:

Fall wedding favors can accent your fall wedding with the colors and designs found in nature.  Choose from fall leaf design wedding coasters, fall leaf design soaps, perfect pair candles, and personalized edible wedding favors with fall designs (such as honey jars, coffee packs, chocolate bars, and more).  If you prefer, you can make your own.  You can use pretty boxes and fill them with mints, chocolates or candy corn and wrap them with a colored ribbon matching your wedding colors.

Wedding Invitations

There are many styles of invitations available for a fall wedding theme.  These include fall leaf designs and rich colors. Otherwise, you can make your own by using organic paper and enhancing them with ribbons matching your wedding colors and strands of wheat or small dried flowers.
